Vultures Vengeance is a promising new epic metal band in the tradition of Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road, and Brocas Helm. Formed in Rome in 2009, they released their first full-length album, "The Knightlore," in 2019 after a demo and two EPs. The record received rave reviews in the underground worldwide. Now, their follow-up, "Dust Age," is out, their debut for High Roller Records. Tony T. Steele, guitarist and vocalist of the band, explains what's been going on with Vultures Vengeance since the release of »The Knightlore«: "We recorded »Dust Age« back in October 2020, but then Covid got in the way and we had to cancel a lot of shows in Europe. So we preferred to postpone the release date because we really wanted to play live. We also had lineup issues, as Tony LA and Matt Savage left the band, and the search for a new bassist and guitarist took forever." "»Dust Age« was recorded with the old lineup, with the exception of drummer Damian," continues the guitarist and vocalist. "We went to 16 Cellar Studio in Rome and then to Forge Studio in Sweden for the mix, where we worked with Marco S. Vermiglio." Steele doesn't necessarily see »Dust Age« as a direct sequel to »The Knightlore«: "I think the approach is a bit different, but at the same time, you can still immediately recognize the Vultures Vengeance signature. The material itself isn't that far removed from what we've done before." And what exactly is "Dust Age"? Steele explains the underlying concept of the record as follows: "The 'Dust Age' is a future vision of our world, which has been completely destroyed by our actions. The lyrics of the individual songs vary, but they are all allegories of our modern world, told through short stories that deal with themes of war, slavery, corruption, and power." MATTHIAS MADER
